NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School girls soccer team hosted Belvidere in a night game on Saturday, October 6 and shut them out 5-0.

Fifth-seeded Newton, began the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex tournament with a bye in the first round and then took the victory against Belvidere in the second round to move to the quarterfinal round.

Blaise Vallorosi led the Braves in their victory over Belvidere contributing two goals, while teammates Jessie Brannick, Olivia Buckley, and Nina Matullo each contributed a goal apiece.

Assists were made by Brannick, Buckley, Vallorosi, Hope Lissitz, and Aly Lynch. Newton had two keepers in the game.

Starting goalie Brianna Galeos had 12 saves and Leah Dykstra had five saves. Newton out shot Belvidere 17-4.

Fourth-seeded Sparta will host Newton in the quarterfinal round of the tournament on Saturday, October 13, beginning at 10 a.m.
