NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School girls soccer team shut out Clifton 2-0 when they played them home on Saturday.

Kayleigh Furth led the Braves in their victory over Clifton scoring both goals, with assists from Olivia Buckley and Kass Wojcik.

Clifton out shot Newton 6-5, a close game allowing Karis Steele, Newton’s goalie, to save five of the six shots taken on her.

The nine-seeded Newton Braves will take on 20-seeded Pope John in the first round of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex tournament on Monday, October 2 at Newton’s home field beginning at 3:45 p.m.
