NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School girls soccer team hosted rival Kittatinny on Friday, shutting out the Cougars 2-0.

Nina Matullo led the Braves to a 2-0 victory, scoring both goals with assists for both by Blaise Vallorosi. Newton out shot Kittatinny 17-12, causing keeper Brianna Galeos to make 13 saves against their shots.

On Wednesday Newton lost 2-1 in the overtime period against Morris Tech when they played them on the road. Morris Tech out shot Newton 10-7. Emily Cuccio had six saves against Newton.

The Newton High School girls soccer team’s record overall is now 2-4 and their conference-division record is 1-2. They will host High Point on Monday, September 14 beginning at 4 p.m.
