NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School girls soccer team won 7-3 against Vernon, when they played them home on Tuesday, September 12.
The Braves came out strong, scoring five goals in the first half compared to Vernon’s two, but did not let up as they came out in the second half scoring two more.
Leading Newton in their win was Kayleigh Furth who scored four of the seven goals, followed by Kass Wojcik who score the remaining three.
Assists were made by the following Braves: Olivia Buckley-1, Furth-2, Cailin Ruoti-2, and Regan Thiel-3.
Newton had two goalkeepers in the game against Vernon, starter Karis Steele and Riley Scuralli. Steele had 10 saves and Scuralli had five.
The girls move forward with a 3-1 overall record and a 1-0 conference-division record as they host Hackettstown on Thursday, September 14, home, at 4 p.m.
