NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School baseball team claimed another win this season, when they beat North Warren 13-7, home on Thursday.
Justin Mayhood led the Braves in their victory over North Warren by driving in three RBIs, as he went 2-for-4 at bat, scoring two runs himself.
Chase Cramer, Michael Luzzi, Scott Price and Luke Young, all drove in two RBIs apiece. Cramer and Price went 2-for-3 at the plate, with Cramer scoring two runs with get a double and Price scoring one run.
Luzzi went 3-for-4 at bat, scoring one run, while Young went 1-for-3, scoring one run. Luzzi, and Cramer each got one stolen base, while Jake Tarabokija stole two bases.
Tarabokija went 1-for-3, scoring two runs for the Braves. Alex Blanar went 2-for-3 at bat, scoring one run, while Aldo Vallorosi went 1-for-2 and scored three runs and drove in one RBI.
Starting on the mound for Newton was Billy Carson, who here 55 pitches in 4.1 innings, striking out two and hitting two batters. He allowed six runs in nine hits and four errors.
Closing out for the Braves on the mound was Gianni Pereira, who threw 44 pitches in 2.2 innings he was in. Pereira struck out four and allowed one run in five hits, with one error.
The Braves are moved forward in the season to take on Wallkill Valley in the quarterfinal round of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex tournament on Saturday.
