NEWTON, NJ—Due to the weather over the last week, the Newton High School Baseball team could not play any of their schedule games.The Braves began their season on Sunday against Hackettstown and winning 11-5 when they played them away.

Alex Stone and Luke Young led the team, each contributing three RBIs, along with Scott Price who had two and Chase Cramer and Aldo Vallorosi, who each had one.

Billy Carson and Cramer went 2-for-3, with each scoring twice. Cramer led the team in stolen bases with two against Hackettstown.

Price went 1-for-4 with a double, Stone went 2-for-4 with a double, while Vallorosi, Alex Blanar, and Jake Tarabokija each went 1-for-2. Young went 1-for-5 with two runs and a double.

The Braves had two pitchers throughout the game on Sunday, Price and Tarabokija. Price went 4.2 innings, striking out five and walking two. He allowed five hits, five runs, and five errors.

Price was on the mount first with 80 pitches. Tarabokija threw 24 in 2.1 innings, striking out four Hackettstown players.

Newton had 25 at-bats, with 11 hits, nine runs, 10 RBIs, two doubles, six walks, and two stolen bases. The Braves’ average is at .440.

The Newton High School Baseball Team continued their season with a 1-0 record as they played against Lenape Valley on Monday.
