NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School field hockey team shut out Jefferson 6-0 on Saturday,  on Newton’s home field.

Newton dominated against Jefferson outshooting them 29-1. The Braves made three goals in the first half and added another three in the second.

Sydney Pavlishin led the Braves with three goals. Dominique Simeone, Julia Fitt, and Elissar Abou-Jaoude each scored one goal apiece.

Simeone and Abou-Jaoude assisted on two of the goals.

Junior, Abby Berkowitz, Newton’s keeper, stopped Jefferson’s only shot on goal, while Jefferson’s keeper had 24 saves against Newton’s shots.

The Braves continue on in the season with a 2-0 record overall so far this season. They will play away at North Warren on Monday, September 9 beginning at 4 p.m.
