NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School Braves Football Team held their first annual “Braves Youth Football Camp at Newton High School. From July 24 to 27, 46 boys in first through eighth grade participated in the week long.

“The camp promoted the importance of hard work, skill development and good sportsmanship”, said Newton Football Head Coach, Matt Parzero.

Parzero’s mission was achieved through drills and competitions lead by the coach and many of the varsity football players who volunteered to help out.

Two seventh grader players Matthew May and Matthew McLean, were chosen as Camp Standouts throughout the week.

The high school varsity players who volunteered were Chase Cramer, Ryan Kaiser, Donte Northe, Jimmy Snyder, Will Larsen, Justin Mayhood, Michael Freda, Johnny Van Ness, Nick Brigante, and Sean Taylor, according to Parzero.

“I decided to offer this camp to provide an opportunity for youth players to tune up and prepare for their upcoming season”, said Parzero. “It also provided an opportunity for the high school students to give back to their community and the program they grew up in.”

This was the first of many Youth Football Camps held at Newton High School according to Parzero who “hopes to have the camps every year.”
