NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School softball Team shut out Whippany Park 10-0 when they played them home on Thursday.

Leading the Braves in their victory over Whippany Park was Riley Scuralli, who drove in four RBIs on three hits during her four at bats. She scored one run herself and got a double.

Sierra Dunn drive in two RBIs, while Carly De Iorio and Taylor Thieme each drove in one RBI apiece.

Dunn went 1-for-4, De Iorio went 3-for-4, scoring one run herself, and Thieme went 3-for-4, scoring two runs for the Braves.

Petrina Herold, Morgan Mendel, and Abby Wittig each went 1-for-2, scoring one run apiece for Newton.

Hannah Roessler and Kathryn Szatkiewicz each went 1-for-3 at the plate. Szatkiewicz scored one run for Newton, along with Rebecca Finley and Brielle Bello.

Katie Maker pitched the full six inning game for Newton, struck out six, walked two and allowed two hits throughout the game.

The Newton High School Girls Softball team is 7-3 overall and 1-2 in their league.
