NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School boys lacrosse team, who entered into the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex tournament as 10-seed, lost to seven-seeded Voorhees, 19-6, when they played them away on Saturday, May 6.
Newton had five players score on the Voorhees’ defense, with Logan Kellenberger leading with two goals. Following Kellenberger were Andrew Christic, Grant Parker, Kyle Vandenberg and Ryan Vanderburg, each adding a goal.
Parker led Newton in grabbing ground balls, as he managed to get his stick on six throughout the game. Nick Krawchuk, Gunner Nunn, and Chrustic each grabbed five ground balls, followed by Vanderburg with four.
The Newton Braves had four goalkeepers who tried to stop the Voorhees’ offense on Saturday; John Bugay, Hunter Grave de Peralta, Nick Krawchuk, and Tyler Sevean.
Sevean, Newton’s regular goalie saved 16 of the shots taken on him, Krawchuk had three saves, while Grave de Peralta and Bugay each had one save.
