NEWTON, NJ—Playing under the lights on Newton’s turf field on Monday, the Newton High School boys lacrosse team fell 15-2, to Randolph.
Randolph started the game strong, scoring three goals in the first and four in the second. The Rams would go into halftime leading 7-0.
As the Braves came back onto the field, they fought hard, but could not come back. They were unable to get on the board until the final quarter, when Kyle Vandenberg and Ryan Vanderburg each scored a goal for Newton.
The two goals just were not enough to help the Braves climb back. Randolph came out of the half scoring another three in the third and five in the final quarter.
The Newton High School boys lacrosse team moves their record to 6-2 overall and 5-0 in their league division. They lead the divisionwith Jefferson in second with 4-1 in the league and Phillipsburg with 3-2, who they will host on Thursday, beginning at 4 p.m.
