NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School boys lacrosse team won a close game against Hackettstown,, 13-9 when they played them home on Thursday.
Leading the Braves in their victory over Hackettstown was Logan Kellenberger,with four goals and five ground balls.
Following closely behind him was teammate Ryan Vanderburg, scoring three goals and grabbing five ground balls.
Kyle Vandenberg and PJ Russell each netted two goals and had two ground balls apiece, while Andrew Chrustic netted one goal, but led the team in ground balls, grabbing nine.
Nicholas Daschko and Nick Krawchuk each contributed offensively with seven ground balls. Grant Parker grabbed five, and Giovanni Bevacqua, Jacob Estevez, Matt Krawchuk, and Gunner Nun each had one ground ball for the Braves.
Goalkeeper for Newton, Tyler Sevean,had eight saves against Hackettstown’s offense, while allowing nine goals in the net.
The Newton High School boys lacrosse team’s record moves to 6-1 overall and 5-0 in their league division. They will host Randolph on Monday, April 24, beginning at 4 p.m. on Newton’s turf field.
