NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School girls basketball team remain undefeated having taken down Lenape Valley 58-25, when they played them home on Wednesday.

The Newton victory was a team effort with strong play on both ends of the courts.  The Braves had a big start, putting up 17 points in the first quarter to the Rangers 3.  The girls took the lead and never looked back. 

Maddie Gore led the charge with a double double; 13 points and 10 rebounds. Gore also had two assists and two steals. Kaitlyn Lynch put up 12 points, had three rebounds, two assists and a steal.

Jessie Brannick and Jade Luciani each contributed nine points. Luciani pulled down 10 rebounds and sunk five from the foul line.

Emily Pappas added six,with eight rebounds. Madison Leonardo had five points with five rebounds, two assists and four steals. Grace Young and Olivia Buckley each had two points.

Luciani and Gore tied with 10 rebounds, while Gore led Newton with five blocks. Leonardo led with four steals, and Luciani had four assists throughout the game.

Newton made 19 2-pointers, two 3-pointers, and a total of 14 foul shots throughout the game against Lenape.

The Newton High School girls basketball remain undefeated with a 7-0 overall record and a 4-0 conference-division record. They will take on Morris Catholic in a night game on Friday, January 11, with a tip-off at 7 p.m.
