HACKENSACK, NJ - The Newton Lenape Valley ice hockey team faced off against Paramus Catholic at the Ice House on Sunday, losing, 6-3.

Play in the first two periods was close with each team scoring in the first period. For Newton Lenape Valley, Andrew Dalessandro, unassisted, found the net at the end of the period.

Liam Cheery scored an unanswered goal in the second period with only one second left on the clock. Cherry’s goal was also unassisted.

Paramus Catholic then dominated the third period with five goals. Newton Lenape Valley was able to hit the net only once. It was Dalessandro again at the end of the third on an assist from Todd Zellars getting Newton’s third goal.

Dalessandro has 20 points for the season with 13 goals and seven assists.

Newton’s goalie Ian Freericks stopped 19 shots, the same number as the Paramus goalie.

Newton stands at 10-6-3 for the season with a 2-3-2 division record.
