MORRISTOWN, NJ - Newton Lenape Valley took first rank Vernon in their first Haas Cup on Friday at Mennen Arena.  NLV had lost to Vernon the previous two times they met.  They were shut down by Vernon 8-1 in Feb and on New Year's Eve they lost 5-4.

This time was different.  NLV got on the board first with Andrew Dalessandro's goal on the assist from Liam Cherry. 

The Vikings came back to tie with an unanswered goal in the second period.

The final goal of the game came from Maverick Reiner on the assist from Dalessandro. 

Ian Freericks was in net for NLV stopping 34 Viking shots.  He had a 90 percent save rate for the season having seen 299 shots stopping 269. Freericks four year varsity career record of 958 saves on 1097 shots. 

NLV ranked 30 will take on third seed  Randolph on Tuesday, 4:30 p.m. at Aspen Ice  in the first round of the NJSIAA Public A tournament.
