NEWTON, NJ—A Newton man was sentenced to the New Jersey State Prison after pleading guilty to burglary and possession of a controlled dangerous substance, according to Sussex County Prosecutor Francis Koch.
Kit Pittenger, 50, of Newton was sentenced to four years in prison. He was given credit for one day of time served according to the prosecutor.
On two different occasions, Pittenger entered into a Stillwater residence and without the owner’s permission, removed copper piping. When he was arrest, according to Koch, he was found to be in possession of Heroin.
Pittenger had previously been arrest for possession of 35 bags of heroin with the intent to distribute back in 2010. At that time he arrested behind a building near Memory Park. His charges reflected the drug activity near a park. He was sentenced to six months in jail and five-year drug court probation according to court records.
Pittenger was ordered to pay a restitution of $9,720.43 and fines and fees totaling $1,280. His driver’s license was suspended for two years as well.
