NEWTON, NJ—What started off as a routine speeding stop for Newton Ptl Mahir Kaylani, turned into an arrest for drug possession on Saturday, May 13.
Kaylani stopped a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Paul Ford, 32, of Stillwater for speeding on Main Street.
When the Newton officer searched Ford's car he found approximately 10 grams of marijuana, a multi colored glass smoking pipe and a marijuana grinder inside the center console.
Ford was taken into custody and processed after being ticketed for possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding, failure to change address and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
Ford was released on his own recognizance. The Newton Police Department’s Investigating Officer was Ptl. Mahir Kaylani.
