NEWTON, NJ—A woman from Seaside is in custody after facing possession charges and more. Newton Police Officer Sgt. Michael Monaco stopped a black 2000 Jeep Cherokee on Saturday, May 26 around 12:51 a.m. for a loud exhaust, police report.

The officer found one of its passengers, Jessica Stone, 26, of Seaside Park, had an active arrest warrant out of Ocean County, according to police.

When Monaco searched the car he found a quantity of methamphetamine containers, a hypodermic needle and a bag containing less than half of an ounce of heroin, police said..

Stone was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of hypodermic syringe, and possession of controlled dangerous substance. She was turned over to Ocean County Sheriff’s Department on the Failure to Appear warrant. 

The case is now pending court. Newton Police Department’s Investigating Officers were Sgt. Michael Monaco and Ptl. Jared Zappa.
