NEWTON, NJ—For the second time this month, Ptl Mahir Kaylani was conducting a routine speeding stop when the stop took a different turn on May 26.
Kaylani stopped a 2015 while Dodge Dart, driven by Cheyanne Kowalski, 20, of Andover for speeding on Main Street, according to police.
When officer Kaylani searched the vehicle, he found approximately two grams of marijuana, two multi-colored glass smoking pipes and a marijuana grinder inside the vehicle, police report.
Kowalski was taken into custody after being charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and improper safety glass.
Kowalski was released on her own recognizance. Newton Police Officers that were involved in the investigation along with Kaylani were Ptl. Russell Post and Ptl. Michael Wolanski.
