NEWTON, NJ—A Wantage man is facing drug and other charges after a routine traffic stop. On August 3 around 6:51 p.m. Ptl. Anthony Keiling stopped Aaron Brown, 33 on Woodside Avenue, police said.
At about 6:51 p.m., Ptl. Anthony Keiling was on patrol on Woodside Avenue conducting traffic enforcement when he conducted a motor vehicle stop on a black Jeep Grand Cherokee after he observed a motor vehicle violation.
Keiling stopped Brown in a black Jeep Grand Cherokee. A check of the license plates revealed they did not match the Jeep, police said.
When talking with Brown, the driver admitted the plates were not for the Jeep. Keiling searched the car and found marijuana, a glass pot pipe and marijuana grinder, police said.
Brown was taken into custody and brought to the Newton Police Department Headquarters for processing, police said.
Brown was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended and fictitious plates. He was released with a court date.
