NEWTON, NJ – It is not too late to apply for the Newton Pride 2015 scholarship, but almost. The deadline is April 15 to submit the 300-500 word essay on the topic of why you should be considered the epitome of Newton Pride and what those words mean to you.
The essay should be submitted to the Guidance Department of Newton High School along with a resume of the applicant’s activities in school and involvement in the community. A copy of the student’s college acceptance letter should also be included.
The foundation is pleased to be able to offer two $1000 scholarships for graduating seniors. To qualify the student must have been accepted to a two or four year college, university or technical college.
According to their website, “It is the mission of the Newton Pride Foundation to ensure excellence in public education through the use of private resources and to strengthen community involvement in our school.” The foundation holds several fundraising activities and events throughout the year to fulfill this mission.
