NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School softball team crushed Warren Hills 10-3 on Tuesday at home.

Six Braves had RBIs including Carly De Iorio, Petrina Herold, Morgan Mendel, Riley Scuralli, Taylor Thieme, and Abby Wittig.

Mendel and Wittig also led the Braves in hits, with three apiece. Scuralli and De Iorio each contributed two hits, and Herold, Thieme and Hannah Roessler each had one.

Herold, Mendel and Wittig, each had one stolen base against Warren Hills. Herold who went 1-for-4 got a double, along with Wittig, who went 3-for-3.

De Iorio went 2-for-3, Mendel also went 3-for-3, Roessler went 1-for-2, Scuralli went 2-for-3, and Thieme went 1-for-4.

Katie Maker, pitched the full seven inning game for the Braves, struck out six players, walked seven and allowed three runs on four hits, and three errors.

The Newton High School Braves had 26 at-bats, got 13 hits, two doubles, three stolen bases, and four walks throughout the game against Warren Hills.

They move forward in the season with a 2-2 overall record and a 1-2 league record as they take on Mountain Lakes away on Wednesday, April 12, beginning at 4 p.m.
