NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School softball team lost to Hackettstown 5-3, when they played them home on Thursday.

Taylor Thieme Led the Braves effort by driving in two runs. She went 2-for-2 with a double.

Sierra Dunn, Hannah Roessler and Abby Wittig each went 1-for-3 at the plate. Carly De Iorio and Kathryn Szatkiewicz each went 2-for-3.

Szatkiewicz, Rebecca Finley, and Brianna Bello each scored a run for the Braves against Hackettstown.

Katie Maker pitched the entire seven inning game for Newton.  She struck out five and walked four allowing five runs on eight hits, with five errors.

The Newton High School Braves who are now 9-7 overall and 1-5 in their league, move forward in the season to take on High Point on Wednesday, May 17, away, beginning at 4 p.m.
