NEWTON, NJ—Braves softball team lost a close game to the Vikings, 11-9, when they played them home on Thursday, May 5.
Katie Maker pitched the full game, allowing 14 hits and two homeruns on 11 errors. She struck out seven.
Riley Scuralli led the Braves with four RBIs. She went 3-for-4, scoring two runs on two doubles. Emma Hesse went 2-for-3, scoring three runs on two doubles and a walk. She contributed two RBIs.
Sierra Dunn and Angelya Larsen each had stolen bases. Dunn went 0–for-2, with two walks and one stolen base. Larsen went 1-for-3, with two bases stolen.
Kathryn Szatkiewicz went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Carly De Iorio went 1-for-3, with a double and a walk. Deiorio scored one run and had an RBI.
Taylor Thieme went 2-for-5, scoring two runs for the Braves and Brielle Brown went 1-for-4, scoring one run.
The teams’ record is 6-8 overall and 2-2 in their league. The Braves will host Hopatcong at 4 p.m. on Monday, May 9.
