NEWTON, NJ—The Newton Girls Softball team crushed Hopatcong 18-4, on Wednesday, April 13, when they played them away.
Emma Hesse went 2-for-3, with one home-run and one walk. She had the most RBIs, contributing five in her three at bats.
Taylor Thieme got four RBIs for the Braves going 3-for-3, with three hits, including a double.
Angelya Larsen and Morgan Mendel each got two RBIs and Carly Deiorio, Sierra Dunn, Riley Scuralli, and Kathryn Szatkiewicz each had one for the Braves.
Larsen went 3-for-4, a one double, De Lorio went 2-for-3, a one double, Dunn went 3-for-5, scoring two runs and Brielle Brown went 2-for-4, scoring twice.
Thieme pitched a full game of six innings for the Braves. She struck-out two and walked two. There were 10 hits, four runs, and four errors throughout the game.
Newton is 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the league division. They will take on Belvidere away on Friday, April 15, at 4 p.m.
