NEWTON, NJ – With the promise of spring on the calendar, if not in the air, a harbinger of the season, garage sales are just around the corner. The Town Council of Newton addressed the topic at the last meeting on Monday.
The council introduced Ordinance 2015-12 amending Chapter 100 that specifies fees and costs for the town. The specific section that was discussed deals with Garage Sale License fees. The proposed ordinance would raise the cost of garage sale licenses to $15.
While the current ordinance indicates the fees are $12 Town Manager Thomas Russo said the cost has actually been $15 for a while and the ordinance is simply being amended to reflect the current situation.
The town council will take action on this ordinance at their next meeting scheduled for April 13 at 7 p.m. at the Municipal Building.
