LITTLE FALLS, N.J. - Senior Producer Kayla Steinmetz sat down with East Main Media Executive Producer Brian Brodeur to discuss the production company's evolution and her role in its success.

Steinmetz talked about her experiences beginning in 2014 when she started as an intern, primarily being an assistant editor. Brodeur recalled how Steinmetz contributed to the company's success from the very start due to her specific set of organization and production skills.

"I didn't know I was fulfilling a spot that you really needed when I came onboard," Steinmetz said to Brodeur. "I just knew what I was good at, and I just did it, and it turned out to be very successful."

Steinmetz said her biggest surprise has been her ability to evolve. She wasn't sure whether she wanted to be a producer, but that several successful projects along with working from home during the pandemic gave her the space to "just produce."

Brodeur credited Steinmetz for being hands-on with operations and managing the studio's complex workflow for public broadcasting over the past decade. Brodeur also touted the series "HomeGrown," co-produced by Steinmetz and the show's host, Stephanie Willoughby. Additionally, he applauded Steinmetz for her collaborative work creating content with Post Production Supervisor Dave Ammirata for TAPintoTV.

Steinmetz thanked Brodeur for the plaudits, but said that everyone can easily forget where they came from. "I always try to remind myself...what I was doing seven years ago," she noted. "I'm so grateful for this journey and it reminds me of how far I've come."

Brodeur noted that without Steinmetz’s hard work and dedication, East Main Media would not have been able to successfully deliver over 50 episodes of weekly television for News12Plus. When asked to reflect on her best moment while working at the studio so far, Steinmetz immediately said producing "HomeGrown" and TAPintoTV.

"It's more like my personal high that now you can see what we do, and you can appreciate it," she added.
