SPARTA, NJ – The Fourth of July parade was held on July 2 in Sparta.  The picture perfect weather brought the town out to watch the floats, tractors and firetrucks and cheer on the marchers.  White Deer Plaza and Mohawk Avenue was lined with old and young wearing their best red, white and blue, waving flags and collecting the candy thrown from the marchers.

Retired Sparta Police Chief Ernie Reigstad was chosen by the Sparta Elks to be the Grand Marshal.  He marched with Mayor Gil Gibbs, Gibbs granddaughter and councilman Jerry Murphy.

The Elks judged the parade participants but the list of the award winners is not yet available.
