SPARTA, NJ – Here are a couple of things to do in Sparta July 20-29

On Friday evening the 2018 Spartan Arts free Summer Concert Series continues with a performance by Billy Hector at Dykstra Park from 7 to 10 p.m.  Rain location is Mohawk Avenue School.

Tickets for a drawing for St. Moritz Grill and Bar $50 gift certificates at each show come with a  donation to the Sparta Cultural Arts Committee.

At the Sparta Library on Saturday morning from 10:30 a.m. until noon, drop in to the LEGO club.  They supply the bricks, the children provide the imagination.  This is open to children over the age of three.  Children must be supervised according to the library staff.  No registration is required.

In the lower level of the library they will be showing the PG-13 movie A Quiet Place staring Emily Blunt and John Krasinski beginning at 11 a.m. Registration is requested for this free event.

SCUMA is hosting another E-Waste collection day on Saturday, July 21 at the facility at 34 Route 94 in Lafayette from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m.  Sussex County residents are limited to five units per vehicle. 

They are collecting items such as desktop and laptop computers, monitors, printers, copiers, computer speakers, stereo equipment, televisions, fax machines, cell phones, VCR’s, DVD players, cassettes/CD’s/VCR tapes, radios.

There is a scale charge for extra quantities.  They will not accept appliances.

The Sparta Recreation department is offering Junior Zoo Workshop on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:30 until 11 a.m. in the lower level of the library.  Children ages four and five will learn to draw a variety of animals found at the zoo. 

They will draw girafes, loins, tigers, birds and more.  On the final day the works of art will be arranged into a zoo, divided into several habitats.  Pencils and colored pencils, markers and Sharpies will be used.
