SPARTA, NJ – Old jeans are getting a new life.  Sparta High School is working with Pass it Along on their campaign with Aeropostale for the ninth annual Teens for Jeans initiative.

The jeans will go to homeless teens in the United States, according to Sparta High School’s Paige Lucas.  “Almost 40% of people experiencing homelessness in the United States are under 18,” Lucas said.  “One item they commonly request is homeless shelters is a pair of jeans because they are comfortable in any season and can be worn multiple times between washings.”

A pair of jeans “for a teenager without many belonging s can provide a sense of normalcy,” Lucas said.

The community is invited to donate any type of gently used jeans at the high school through February 24.  The school will also be accepting donations on Saturday, February 22 from 10 a.m. until noon.
