SPARTA, NJ – Dave Chase, General Manager of the Sussex County Miners baseball team was the guest speaker at the Sparta Kiwanis meeting.  On Jan 14 Chase talked about his 40 years in minor league baseball and highlights of the upcoming season at Skylands Stadium.

Chase announce the new team manager for the Miners’ upcoming season will be Bobby Jones, the former New York Mets left handed pitcher.  He noted the team is rebuilding with “extensive changes to player personnel” for the 2016 season.

The Miners’ will also be playing against the Cuban National Team and three games against Japan’s Shikoku Island All Star team, supplementing their regular schedule.

Another special game for the Miners’ will be on July 26 when they will have a fan bus trip to Cooperstown, NY where they will play the Rockland Boulders on Doubleday field.
