SPARTA, NJ – A Brooklyn man is facing charges related to stolen license plates. On May 23 around 9:30 a.m. Sparta Police Officer Steven Guido was on White Lake Road when the automated license plate reader in his patrol car sounded an alert, police said.
The notification said the license plates on a white Ford van that had just pulled into the Printing Center parking lot were stolen, police report.
Guido spoke with driver Anelson Miolson, 26. The plate had been reported stolen at the Union Police Department on January 24, 2018. Miolson was taken into custody and brought to Sparta Police Department headquarters for processing police report.
According to police, the van was impounded.
Miolson was charged with receiving stolen property and ticketed for fictitious plates and failure to inspect the vehicle. Miolson was released pending a court date.
