SPARTA, NJ –A Budd Lake resident is facing drug charges following a traffic stop.  An expired inspection sticker caught the attention of Sparta Police Officer Steven Guido on August 26 around 6:45 a.m., according to police.

Guido stopped Benjamin Quattlebaum III near Sparta Middle School after seeing him on Main Street.  When Guido spoke with Quattlebaum, 32, the officer smelled marijuana coming from the car, police said.

Quattlebaum admitted he smokes pot and that he had a small amount in his car.  Sparta Cp. Schomp and Cpl. Fraser arrived for backup. Quattlebaum was taken in to custody and brought to Sparta Police Department headquarters, police report.

Quattlebaum was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to inspect and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.  He was released pending a court date.
