SPARTA, NJ – A Wallkill, New York man is facing drunk driving charges after a running a red light.  On June 25, Officer Mastandrea stopped Tyler Cornman, 27 for turning left from Main Street onto County Road 517 without stopping for a red light, police said. 

When Mastandrea spoke with Cornman the driver seemed confused, saying his house was just up the road but he actually lived more than an hour away, police said.

Officer Brian Porter arrived to continue the investigation.  Cornman told the officer he had been drinking in town but he refused to do field sobriety tests, police said.

Cornman was taken to Sparta Police Department Headquarters.  After processing and breath testing Cornman was charged with DWI, open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, failure to observe traffic signal and careless driving.

He was released with a court date to a sober adult.
