SPARTA, NJ – A Sparta man and a Paterson man used an Uber as an unsuccessful getaway car from their shoplifting expedition.  On Feb. 24 around 3:50 p.m. Cpl. Craig Grauerholz stopped Sparta resident Jonathan Barkorn, 36 and Jesus Morales, 29 of Paterson in the parking lot of a local supermarket, after the store employee pointed them out as having shoplifted, police said.

Using store video surveillance and an eyewitness account of the store’s “loss prevention” employee, Grauerholz determined it was not the first time Morales had stolen from that store.  He was seen shoplifting the day before as well, police said.

Morales was charged with two counts of shoplifting, given a court date and released.
