SPARTA, NJ – Once again a car stopped for speeding on Route 15 ended with drug charges for the driver and passenger. On March 26, around 1:19 a.m., Sparta Cpl. Rob Fraser pulled over a 2001 Toyota driven by Richard Morocho, 20, of Lodi, according to police.
Sparta Police Officer Chris Favaro also stopped and when he spoke with Morocho he smelled burnt marijuana. Morocho told the Favaro his driver’s license had been suspended, police report.
Favaro and Fraser saw drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana in the car. The officers had Morocho and the 20-year-old passenger Danielle Seiler of Montague get out of the car so it could be searched, police report.
The officers found a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Both Morocho and Seiler claimed ownership. Seiler also had a Xanax pill in her purse, police report.
Morocho and Seiler were taken into custody and brought to Sparta Police Department headquarters for processing.
Morocho was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He also got ticketed for speeding, driving while suspended and a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
Seiler was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a prescription legend drug.
Both were released pending a court date.
