SPARTA, NJ – A Newton woman, pulled over for a broken tail light on her black Kia ended up in custody.  On February 16 around 12:50 p.m. Sparta Police Officer Thomas Herd stopped Meagan Klein, 44, on Route 15, police report.

Herd also found the car’s registration was expired.  The car was not insured and Klein’s license was suspended.  The passenger, 37-year-old Christopher Catalano, also of Newton, had active warrants out of Lakewood and Hoboken, police report.

Klein was ticketed for uninsured vehicle, maintenance of lamps, unlicensed driver, unregistered vehicle and failure to provide documents.  Her car was impounded for being uninsured and she was given a court date.

Catalano was arrested and taken to the Sparta Police Department headquarters for processing.  Both municipalities were contacted and they gave Catalano new court dates.  He was then released.
