SPARTA, NJ – A Vernon man is facing multiple drug charges after being stopped for speeding on Route 15 north in Sparta on November 6. Sparta Police Officer pulled over Brandon Henkelman around 10 p.m. near the Sparta Middle School according to police.
When Snyder spoke with the 27-year-old about the stop, he saw “several white pills on the back seat and assorted items of drug paraphernalia on the front passenger seat,” according to Sparta police.
Snyder searched Henkelman’s 1996 Chevy and found 10 wax paper folds containing heroin as well, police report.
Henkelman was taken into custody and transported to Sparta Police Department headquarters for processing. He was charged criminally with possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. Henkelman was also issued summonses for speeding and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
He was released pending a court date. Cpl Rob Fraser also assisted with the investigation.
