SPARTA, NJ – After being pulled over for weaving between lanes, a Newark woman and a man from Millville are facing a number of charges including for drugs and having a suspended license.  According to police, Sparta Sgt. Frank Schomp stopped Monique Covington, 41 on July 7 around 8 p.m.

Covington told Schomp her name was Zakiyyah Cooper but that proved to be false and came back as a suspended driver.  Schomp had Covington perform field sobriety tests.  She was then taken into custody and brought to Sparta Police Department headquarters, police said.

Passenger Kevin Pugh, 35 was also taken into custody for having marijuana and Xanax.  He was also brought to Sparta Police Department headquarters, police report.

Covingont was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, failure to produce a license, unlicensed, hindering her own apprehension.  Pugh was charged with possession of marijuana and Xanax.

They were both released with a court date.
