SPARTA, NJ – A Franklin woman who was parked behind Panera Bread in the Sparta Theater Center is facing drug charges. A passerby heard the Ambyr Galway say she was tipsy when talking on her cell phone. There was also a passenger in the Hyundai with Galway, according to police.
The passerby called Sparta Police to report what she had heard, concerned it might not be safe for Galway to drive. On July 2, around 9:18 p.m. Sparta Police Officer Erick Finley arrived to speak with Galway. Finley smelled alcohol and burnt marijuana when he spoke with Galway, according to police.
Finley determined the passenger, not Galway drove to the Theater Center. Finley searched the car and found a smoking pipe containing marijuana in Galway’s purse, police report.
Galway was taken into custody and brought to Sparta Police Department headquarters where she was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Galway was also ticketed for possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, open container of alcohol and driving while driver’s license/registration suspended. She was released pending a court date.
