SPARTA, NJ –  A Sparta woman was faces shoplifting charges after being detained at the Stop and Shop in Sparta.

On February 2, around 9 p.m. Sparta Police Officer Steve Guido and Cpl. Craig Grauerholz went to the store on Town Center Drive to find Jennifer Sheridan, 39, in the security room.  Sheridan, a Stop and Shop employee had been seen by the manager putting items into her bag.  When she checked out she only paid for some of the items but not all, police report.

When questioned by police, Sheridan admitted to taking the items without paying.  The value of the stolen items was $25.76 according to police.

Sheridan was taken into custody and brought to the Sparta Police Department headquarters for processing.  She was charged with shoplifting and released pending a court date.
