SPARTA, NJ – A Sparta woman drove to the Sparta Police Department headquarters and found herself under arrest for driving while intoxicated. On June 29 Anne Waitzman was in the lobby of Sparta Police headquarters to lodge a complaint with the police, according to police.
Sparta Police Cpl. Dave Pridham met with Waitzman in the lobby to take the complaint. When speaking with the 51-year-old, Pridham suspected Waitzman to be intoxicated. Pridham also determined Waitzman had driven herself to Sparta Police headquarters, police report.
Waitzman was given field sobriety tests and then taken into custody. She was also given a breath test. Waitzman was charged with DWI, DWI in a school zone and careless driving. She was released to a sober adult pending a court date
Waitzman had initially come to the police department to file an "unwanted guest" complaint about somebody in her house, according to police.
"Pridham's report said she was totally confused, could not express to him what the actual problem was and she completely stopped trying to give him information on it as the investigation into her driving while intoxicated started," Sparta Lt. Dennis Procter said.
Waitzman was charged with DWI, DWI in a school zone and careless driving. She was released to a sober adult pending a court date.
