SPARTA, NJ – Barbara Decker has returned to the Sparta School District to serve as the Business Administrator and Board Secretary. The previous business administrator Linda Alvarez, retired at the end of the past school year.
Decker was the Assistant Business Administrator in Sparta for three and a half years before leaving to go to Pequannock. For two years she served as Business Administrator and Board Secretary in the Morris County school district.
She began her career in education in the classroom. For five years Decker was a business teacher in Vernon Township School District.
Decker has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Upsala College. She has a master’s degree in educational technology from Ramapo College, where she also earned her secondary education certificate. In April 2014 Decker earned her Certified Administrator of School Finance Operations certificate.
Continuing her education, Decker is completing a series of courses through Rutgers Continuing Studies Program in the New Jersey Educational Facility Management Program.
“I am thankful for the opportunity to return to Sparta,” said Decker. “I look forward to reconnecting with former colleagues as well as working with new staff members. I think my familiarity with staff and previous experience in the district will be beneficial as I transitions to my new role here.”
