SPARTA, NJ – A Rockaway woman pulled over for speeding was arrested on drug charges.  Sparta Sgt Joseph Pensado stopped a 2011 Honda on Route 15 for speeding.  When speaking with the driver, Lynne M Berth, Pensado smelled marijuana, according to the Sparta Police Department.

Sparta Police Officer Dan Florio arrived on the scene and took over the investigation.  The officers secured a search warrant on the vehicle, police said. 

A search of the vehicle yielded several baggies containing marijuana and assorted drug paraphernalia items.

The 41-year-old Rockaway resident was placed under arrest and transported to Sparta Police Department Headquarters for processing.  She was charged with Possession of Under 50 Grams of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Speeding and having a Controlled Dangerous Substance in a Motor Vehicle. 

She was released pending a court date.  Police Officer Dan Elig also assisted in the investigation.

These criminal charges are mere accusations. Each defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
