NEWTON, NJ—Newton resident Edgardo Lugo, was sentenced for aggravated assault by Honorable Thomas J. Critchley, at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on Friday, July 26, according to Sussex County Prosecutor Francis A. Koch.
Lugo, 51, was sentenced to three years custodial probation and also must serve 300 days in county jail, with credit for time already served.
He must also submit to a mental health evaluation and follow all recommendations which are: enroll in the DECIDE program, have no contact with the victim, barred from owning, possession or controlling any firearms, Firearms Purchaser Identification Card, or Permit to Purchase, and pay mandatory fines and fees.
Lugo pled guilty on June 24 to aggravated assault and was represented by Thomas Militano, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Nikoletta Agouras.
