NEWTON, NJ—The Sussex Stags Football team got their second win of the season on Palmer Field located at Newton High School last Saturday.
The Stags played the Trenton Capitals on Saturday, July 15, when they held their “Small Business Night” as well and won 27-6.
Defensively, Christopher Ford led in sacks, grabbing two against the Capitals, while Rashaan Hollman, Michael Cousar, William Freeland, and Demetri Thompson each had one.
Cousar led the Stags in tackles with six, with Michael Montes close behind with five and Jared Powell and Jacob Baker with four. Ford got three, while Davelle Byrd, Thompson, Freeland, Hollman, and Nicholas VanDerTulip got two apiece.
Offensively for the Stags, Joseph Enslin completed 12 of his 18 attempted passes and obtained 162 yards in total.
Cody Lamoreaux rushed the most for the Stags with 10 carries, in which he went 28 yards. Joseph Clouse and former Spartan Lucas Faria each had five carries. Clouse rushed 26 yards and Faria 14. Adam Schlereth had one carry for a total of four yards rushed.
Vlenale Byrd had the most yards among the receivers with 54, following closely behind him with 47 yards was Linwood Rideout and Kasson Thomas with 45. Thomas, Rideout, Byrd and Mark Edwards each scored one touchdown for the Stags.
