NEWTON, NJ—Two Newton men pled guilty in the Sussex County Court House before Hon. WIlliam McGovern, III  according to Sussex County Prosecutor, Francis A Koch; Eric Fischer and Matthew Hammond.

Fischer, 41, of Newton, pled guilty to one count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, a third degree offense. His sentencing is presently anticipated for August 25.

Hammond, 34, of Newton, pled guilty to Eluding, a crime of the third degree and Resisting Arrest, a crime of the fourth degree.  His sentencing is presently scheduled for August 25 as well.

Hammond admitted he did not comply with Sparta Police when they tried to effectuate a motor vehicle stop, using lights and sirens.  He also admitted that he ran from police when they located him later that evening and after a brief foot chase he was taken into custody. 

Fischer was represented by Linda Pellegrino, Esq., Hammond was represented by William Oake, Esq. and the State was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Shaina Brenner in both cases.
