Sussex County COVID-19 March 31, Two More Deaths

SUSSEX COUNTY, NJ – The coronavirus has claimed two more victims in Sussex County.  According to the Sussex County Department of Health a 63-year-old Vernon man and a 75-year-old Sparta man have died.

Additionally, 15 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified.

Spartan Spirit Shines; How You Can Help Feed Your Neighbor

SPARTA, NJ – The current "Stay at Home" situation has not dampened the giving Spartan spirit.  A few groups have taken up the mission of keeping their neighbors fed.  Food drives are being held at the Lake Mohawk Country Club, Sparta Athletic Club and Sparta High School students have set up a GoFundMe page all to support the Sparta Ecumenical Food Pantry.

Sparta Man Gets Five Years in Drug Case

March 30, 2020

MORRISTOWN, NJ – A Sparta man was sentenced today to five years in state prison for his role in a drug distribution scheme dashed after a long-term police investigation that yielded drugs and $300,000 in proceeds, said authorities.

It was the culmination of a case, led by Parsippany-Troy Hills Police Detective Daniel Cicala, that involved many law enforcement agencies.
