New Jersey Date Night: Ice Cream, You Smile

May 18, 2019

New Jersey Date Night is a series on NJ Flavor by relationship writer Craig Rogers.

Frankie and Annette went on one, as did Gidget and Moondoggie. By Working Together We Can Fix State Education Funding in Sussex and Warren Counties

May 13, 2019

In April, I had to opportunity to meet with Carla Mancuso, President of the High Point Education Association.

With the cuts in state education funding that is affecting school districts throughout Sussex and Warren Counties, it is recognized that the time for fighting amongst ourselves is counterproductive and that we need to work together to bring about change in Trenton.

Senator Steve ...

Is This the End of the American Century

“ The End of the American Century”

The above title has been listed with a number of journals and other perspectives.  This one above comes from The Atlantic! What was called the American Century really only lasted a little more than 50 years and followed World War II, and our “Best Generation!” In my case, it was my parents or your grandparents. There indeed ...

Jersey Shore Outdoors: LBI Fishing Update by Jim Hutchinson Sr.

May 18, 2019

LONG BEACH ISLAND REGION - This is the time of the year when Southern Ocean County fishermen seem to enjoy the most. NEW BRUNSWICK –  It was scheduled to last an hour and a half. It lasted just over 20 minutes.

Senate President Steve Sweeney rushed off stage Thursday night in the middle of a raucous town hall meeting, unwilling to sit and be shouted down when he tried to hype his "Path to Progress" legislation in front of a pro-union audience at Douglass College's Trayes ...

Targum Editors: 'This Is Not The End Of The Targum'

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - Editors were tapping on keyboards inside The Daily Targum's newsroom on Neilson Street Tuesday night, stopping only to wander over to a table at the front of the room and grab a slice of the pizza that had just arrived.

There was a hint of garlic in the air, but no hint they were ready to write the paper's obituary.

The managing editor of ...

Foxes Herald Nature’s Resurgence in Suburban New Jersey

For most of my life the only time I saw a red fox it was probably a raccoon. They have those same glow-in-the-headlights silvery eyes.

But a few years ago, I began to see a once-rare piece of roadkill with greater frequency. No matter how flattened the rest of the fox was, it’s bushy-tail would blow around in the highway draft of cars and trucks as they raced past.

I assumed the ...
