NEWTON, NJ – The health crisis will not stop the annual Miss Newton Pageant. The new Recreation Coordinator for the town Gigi Regolizio said the pageant will be held virtually.
The event will be held on Friday, June 12 at 6 p.m.
As in past years the winner will earn a $1,000 scholarship. Applicants must be between 17 and 21 on August 1, 2020.
The application package also requires a written essay not to exceed two typed pages double spaced. The topic is “why you would be a good representative of Newton.”
Additionally, applicants need to submit a written biography of no more than 150 words along with a video clip of no more than two minutes. The biography should include hobbies, talents, special interests or accomplishments along with any significant family or school history.
The judges will be evaluated on personal presentation, poise, demeanor and overall appearance according to Regolizio. She must have the applications no later than noon on May 28.
The winner may be required to attend Newton Day if it occurs and will be invited to participate at:
- Holiday Parade on Saturday, November 28,
- Holiday Senior Luncheon,
- Annual Holiday Tree Lighting,
- Spring Senior Luncheon,
- St. Patrick’s Day Parade,
- Memorial Day Parade
